There are several reasons cited for this change. Some reports suggest that the rumoured 48MP camera on iPhone 15 smartphones will result in a different camera bump.

Another probable reason might be the expected change in design. Reports suggest that Apple may feature a rounded back this time.

Earlier, it was reported that Apple is considering an iPhone 15 price cut which will apply to the base model as well as the Plus model.
