Now, according to a report from gsmarena, the upcoming Pixel 5a - the affordable smartphone is due to launch on August 26. It will allegedly be priced at $450 (around Rs 33,365.59). The pricing seems to be in line with many mid-range smartphones with 5G connectivity support. The smartphone may not launch in India, the intial report suggests.

The report indicates that the Pixel 5a will feature a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display and pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM. The device is said to be powered by a 4,650mAh battery. Unsurprisingly, there will be no wireless charging, and you'll only be able to purchase the Pixel 5a in one color: Mostly Black.

The camera will be the same found on the Pixel 5, and the 5a will have a headphone jack and be IP67 rated for water and dust resistance. The Pixel 5a will launch in just two markets, which is around six less than the ones that will see the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. These two markets are the US and Japan, clearly both countries which are desperate for some decently priced mid-rangers - unlike in other parts of the world where there's plenty of choice.

Meanwhile, Google has now confirmed the availability of the two upcoming smartphones - Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 in eight countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, the UK, and the US. The company, however, hasn't announced the Pixel 6 lineup's pricing yet.

Google also announced it has developed its own custom-built chip to power the next generation of Pixel 6 smartphones that will arrive in the market later this year. Called Tensor, the AI-enabled System on a Chip (SoC) has been developed specifically for Pixel phones.
