Apple iPhone 14: In a major development, the US-based tech giant Apple is planning to start manufacturing of the upcoming iPhone 14 in India as the the company seeks alternatives to China after Xi administration's clashes with Washington and lockdowns across the country disrupted production, said Reuters in its report quoting Bloomberg.

The company has been working with suppliers to ramp up production in India and shorten the lag in manufacturing new iPhones from the typical six to nine months for previous launches, the report further added. Earlier this year, to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' campaign, the Apple had confirmed the manufacturing its of it latest flagship iPhone 13 smartphone in India. Apple had said in a statement shared with us: "We are excited to begin making iPhone 13 — with its beautiful design, advanced camera systems for stunning photos and videos, and the incredible performance of the A15 Bionic chip — right here in India for our local customers.”

Apple first started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017, with iPhone SE. Today, Apple manufactures some of its most advanced iPhones in the country including iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and now iPhone 13.

Apple iPhone 14 series

Apple is set to hold its iPhone 14 event in early September that will unveil next-generation iPhones, Watch Series 8 and other products and services. According to reports, the iPhone 14 launch date can be September 7. Apple generally organises its annual mega event around those dates. 

The tech giant is set to release four iPhone 14 models, including a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The standard iPhone 14 models are expected to get few changes, but the iPhone 14 Pro models will include updated camera technology. The new iPhones with A16 Bionic chip may also see removal of the notch in favour of a pill-shaped and hole-punch cutout.
