The feature has been spotted by WABetaInfo, a website that tracks the latest features in the beta version of the app. In the report filed by the website, we can see a few screenshots showing what the feature will look like and the difference it will create.

This new feature has been spotted on the Android version of the app. However, it was already being tested on WhatsApp beta for iOS. Both WhatsApp Desktop beta 2.2218.1 and the Android beta are testing the new feature. This shows that WhatsApp may finally be ready to roll out this new feature for beta testing soon.

WhatsApp is also working on a new filter chats option. This feature has been limited to Business accounts so far but the latest screenshots have suggested that the feature will also be introduced to standard WhatsApp accounts.

WhatsApp is also working on some new messaging features for a future update -- a new message reply shortcut, a feature under development on WhatsApp Desktop beta planned to be released soon.

According to WABetaInfo, You can quickly reply to a message in a chat thread by following two different methods: you can select “Reply” right within the message options, or tap twice the message row. In the recent WhatsApp Desktop beta 2.2218.0 update, there are references about a third method to reply to messages, available in a future update of the app:

The report revealed that WhatsApp is developing a new message reply shortcut placed next to the reaction button: thanks to the new shortcut, you will be able to reply to a message even faster than before by simply clicking the shortcut once instead of twice.
