A significant number of travellers use this platform for booking train tickets. IRCTC is an Indian public sector undertaking and also provides services like catering, and tourism services for the Indian Railways. It seems that some miscreants are using the popularity of the platform and circulating a phishing link similar to the official website to commit cyber crimes.

IRCTC train ticket booking online: IRCTC warns people about malicious Android application

IRCTC has warned people about a malicious Android application called "irctcconnect.apk." 

According to reports, the IRCTC has stated that the link is being shared over instant messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. The link has been hosted on a phishing website "https://irctc.creditmobile.site."

According to IRCTC, this Android app (APK file) is malicious and if clicked has the potential to infect the mobile device. The link is being widely shared by fraudsters and they insist users to download this Android application. When someones download the app, fraudsters use it to access sensitive details of users like net banking credentials, UPI details, credit/debit card information, etc.

To protect users, the IRCTC has urged people to use only the authorised app of IRCTC - ‘IRCTC Rail Connect’ - and download it only from Google Play Store or Apple Store. 

The only way to stay safe from these online scams is to adhere to IRCTC's guidelines and use only authorised platforms to download the official app.
