“This year’s annual Earth Day Doodle highlights how everyone can plant the seed to a brighter future — one sapling at a time!” The planet we call home continues to nurture life and inspire wonder. Our environment works hard to sustain us, which calls for us to return the favour," Google said in its official blog post.

"Today’s video Doodle shows a variety of trees being planted within natural habitats, one of the many ways we can do our part to keep our Earth healthy for future generations,” the tech giant further notes in the blog post," the US tech giant further added.

Meanwhile, to create awareness on 'Earth Day' in India, the Facebook-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has rolled out a new “Stand up for Earth” sticker pack that highlights some of the environmental challenges we’re facing across the globe, and encourages actions like recycling, reducing electricity and saving water.

"Every day, 100 billion messages are sent and 1 billion calls placed on WhatsApp, globally. We know that we play a special role in connecting our planet, but that more work needs to be done to help everyone protect it," WhatsApp said.

According to the messaging platform, the stickers give people a conversational and fun way to remind one another to take action to protect the planet and celebrate these actions in an environmentally-friendly way.
