In order to offer a better travel experience to commuters, Chennai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (CMRL) has launched WhatsApp chatbot-based QR ticketing service for Chennai Metro. The WhatsApp chatbot has been developed by Karix and promises a more efficient and seamless travel experience for Chennaites. With this, commuters will now no longer have to wait in endless queues to book their tickets. 
 
CMRL’s WhatsApp chatbot is available in English and Tamil for all commuters of Chennai Metro. 

Here's how you can book a Chennai Metro Rail Limited ticket via WhatsApp: Step-by-step

Step 1: Send, “Hi” to +91 83000 86000 or just scan the QR code 

Step 2: Choose your origin and destination stations.

Step 3: Enter the number of tickets you need.

Step 4: Confirm the details provided by you.

Step 5: Make payment. For this, you will have the option of making payments via UPI as well as others. 

Step 6: On successful payment, a QR ticket will be generated and you will also get your ticket number on the WhatsApp chat 

Apart from booking tickets, there are several other things that you can do using WhatsApp. Below mentioned are some of them.

 

  • Discover stations
     
  • Know journey fare
     
  • Manage your profile

 

But there are certain terms and conditions that commuters should be aware of:

 

  • For single journey ticket and groups of tickets up to a maximum of 6, QR Ticket will be generated for each passenger.
     
  • The validity of each QR ticket is at the end of the business day. However, commuters should exit within 120 mins of the destination after making an entry.
     
  • If a commuter wants to exit Source Station, he or she needs to do it within 20 minutes from the time of the entry.
     
  • The ticket can be booked only during business hours
     
  • Cancellation of tickets is not allowed in WhatsApp Ticketing.
