Smartworks, provider of shared workspaces, has announced its 3 lakh square feet and 6,000-seat  new facility in Bengaluru, taking the company’s total office space to 10 lakh square feet in India.  This is in line with the company’s plans to grow its footprint by nearly 400 percent with its new centres in other tier-1 cities of Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. With this launch, Smartworks is taking its total number of centers in India to 15 across nine cities namely, Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad.

The ever-increasing demand for workspaces in India’s Silicon Valley prompted Smartworks to add a new facility with as big a number of seats as 6,000, the company said in a statement. The expansion in Chennai also owes to the rising demand there. The first facility in Chennai in Guindy was booked out 100 percent within two months of its launch which led to the new 1500 seater facility in OMR across 85180 sq.ft area which has been presold 50 percent prior to its launch. 

Similarly, the Hyderabad facility has also been presold 50 percent, owing to an increased demand for workspaces in southern states of India. While in Mumbai, the company is adding another 900 seat capacity centre in Fleet House, this is in addition to the facility at Indiabulls in Lower Parel and Hyderabad is next to be launched soon.

India has seen a surge in shared workspace providers in the recent years wherein Smartworks has emerged as a true leader among enterprise clients. It has brought on board several marquee clients including Tata Communications, Microsoft, Arcelor Mittal, Amazon, Carrier, Otis, Daikin, Lenovo, Bacardi, Jaguar Land Rover and OLX among its 250+ strong client base, the statement said.
