State owned Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd (BCPL) striving to expand its reach, has harnessed hyperlocal delivery startup BigBasket.

The company announced a formal announcement on the tieup on Saturday.

"Now, BCPL products will be delivered by BigBasket at the doorstep of any customer of Kolkata if they place their order online or through their app," BCPL managing director P M Chandraiah said.

The company posted a net profit in 2016-17 for the first time in 63 years. It was taken over by the Centre in 1977.

BCPL is continusouly trying to expand and foray into profitable pharma segment and the same could be a gamechanger for the ailing company, he said.
