Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) will extend funds to 50 innovative, socially-relevant and scalable ideas from different sectors as part of its financial aid project.

Students, startups and innovators working on their ideas or trying to productise their concept or scale up their existing products can apply to participate in the event to be held on December 23 at Kochi.

Applications from outside Kerala would also be considered, a press release said.

Persons having their own primary model and idea of a product and startups registered in Kerala or incubators can apply for innovation grant through Idea Day.

A grant of up to Rs 12 lakh would be provided for a product that has potential for global marketing and development, the release added.

The Idea Day has so far released grants to more than 25 startups, students and individuals.

The 25 idea grants were selected from the 700 applications received.

Those working on their startups with their product having strong solutions in different sectors, including hardware, IoT, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Platforms and Aggregators, Blockchain, AR/VR and Artificial Intelligence (AI), can also apply.

Commenting on the Idea Day, Vimal, G, CEO, Genrobotics, who got support when he was a student at IEDC MES Kuttippuram, said: "The Idea Day has really helped us to take our project to the next level."

"It was by the help of the state government that we could complete the Robotics project and pitch to Taipei University, Taiwan."

Aathira, a student of Vidya Academy, said this was a unique platform for innovators to present their ideas, which get good exposure, guidance and financial support.

The deadline for the application is December 12.
