In an effort to make transactions smoother and faster, the digital payment platform Google Pay has launched a new UPI PIN-free 'Lite' feature. This new payment option unveiled on Thursday, July 13 will allow users to add up to Rs 2,000 twice, a maximum of Rs 4,000,  in 24 hours for instant transactions of up to Rs 200 in one click.

The UPI Lite feature does not rely on real-time bank transactions, which means if the server of the linked bank is down, the user will still be able to proceed with quick transactions at any hour of the day.

For every transaction a user makes, he/she is not required to enter the UPI pin every time, and payment from the wallet will be made with just a single click.

Here’s how to use UPI Lite

Step 1: To use UPI Lite, you need to open the Google Pay application on your mobile.

Step 2: Click on the profile picture in the top-right corner.

Step 3: Select the UPI Lite option in the payment method section.

Step 4: Choose the bank account you want to link with UPI Lite.

Step 5: Now, enter the amount (up to Rs 2,000) to add to the UPI Lite wallet.

Step 6: Enter the UPI PIN to authenticate the top-up, and you can start using UPI Lite.

It’s important to note for the user that only one UPI Lite account on Google Pay is required. If a user has multiple bank accounts linked with UPI, they can use only one of them for UPI Lite.
