Mutual fund is quite a popular way to invest in the stock market indirectly. Mutual fund managers invest investor money in equities, debt options and securities. In equities, they invest money in different types of funds such as small, mid, large, flexi, hybrid, etc. Equity funds carry more market risk than debt funds, but in the long run, equity funds are considered a better choice for growth. Though past performance of a mutual fund doesn't guarantee future returns, the long-term performance of a fund gives quite a clear picture of its stability. Despite the market going through the thick and thin many times in the last decade, many of the equity funds have performed outstandingly in the same period. In fact, some of them have given approximately 10X returns in that period.

Here, we take you through the performance of the top equity funds in the last 10 years, and what a Rs 100,000 lump sum investment in each of these funds would have given you in the same duration.

Nippon India Small Cap Fund 

The fund from Nippon India takes the crown of the No.1 gainer equity fund in the last 10 years.

The fund has given an annualised return of 26.83 per cent in the last decade.

A Rs 1 lakh investment in this small-cap fund would have become Rs 10.80 lakh in the 10 years.

The fund holds assets under management (AUM) of Rs 46044.13 crore and the net asset value (NAV) of Rs 135.11 as on March 19, 2024.

The fund's 95.6 per cent investments are in domestic equities with the majority of them (52.99 per cent) in small caps.

SBI Small Cap Fund 

The fund from SBI has been one of the top performers in the last 10 years.

It has given annualised returns to the tune of 25.66 per cent in the last decade.

Had one invested Rs 1 lakh 10 years ago in the fund, they would have got Rs 9.84 lakh in current times.

It has AUM of Rs 25524.56 crore and NAV of Rs 143.5992. The fund's 87.51 per cent investments are in equities.

Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund 

The equity linked saving scheme fund has given annualised returns of 25.13 per cent in the last 10 years.

A Rs 10,000 investment in the fund would have turned into Rs 9.43 lakh now.

The fund's AUM at present is Rs 7769.92 crore, while its NAV is worth Rs 337.6366.

ELLS are also known as tax saver funds.

One can get up to Rs 1.50 lakh tax rebate on ELSS deposits in a financial year.

The lock-in period for an ELSS fund is three years.

Quant Flexi Cap Fund

Another fund from Quant is also one of the top performing funds in the equity fund category.

It has given annual returns of 23.55 per cent.

Had one invested Rs 1 lakh in the fund 10 years ago, they would have got Rs 8.30 lakh in today's date.

The flexi cap fund has AUM of Rs 4154.65 crore, while its NAV stands at Rs 89.6067.

Quant Infrastructure Fund

This sectoral fund from Quant has given annualised returns of 23.20 per cent in the last decade.

A Rs 1 lakh investment in the thematic fund would have grown into Rs 8.07 lakh.

The fund has AUM of Rs 2207.59 crore and its NAV is Rs 35.8974.

The fund has its 82.10 per cent investment in domestic equities. 

Quant Active Fund

This fund also comes from Quant Mutual Fund.

The multicap fund has given returns to the tune of 22.96 per cent in the last decade.

An investor's Rs 1 lakh investment 10 years ago has grown to Rs 7.91 lakh in the present time.

DSP Small Cap Fund 

One of the oldest small-cap funds in the category has give 22.92 per cent annualised returns in the last 10 years.

A Rs 1 lakh investment in the fund a decade ago has become Rs 7.89 lakh in the current time.

The fund's AUM is Rs 13709.97 crore, while its NAV size is Rs 151.443.

The fund's 94.43 per cent investments are in domestic equities with 64.24 per cent of them in small caps.
