Also, several steps have been taken to give more control of their bank accounts. They can now complete most of their banking tasks from the comfort of their homes, using a smartphone or computer with an internet connection.
Bank customers now get real-time information about transactions, including cash withdrawals, from their accounts through SMS and e-mail. However, when it comes to cash deposits, account holders do not control over who can deposit in their account. This may, however, change soon.

In her first Budget speech on Friday last, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hinted at introducing a system which will give customers control over the deposit of cash by others in their accounts. If this proposal comes into effect, even your wife and children may not be able to deposit money in your account without you knowing about it in advance. Even you may not be able to deposit money in their accounts without their permission.

Sithraman said, "Government will initiate steps to empower accountholders to remedy the current situation in which they do not have control over deposit of cash by others in their accounts," Sitharaman said.

Currently, any person can deposit money in your account from any branch of your bank across the count. Any person can also deposit money in your account through cash deposit machines.
