State Bank of India, the country's largest public sector bank, offers various debit cards. It has categorised its cards into two categories - basic cards and premium cards. You will be surprised to know that SBI's premium debit cards come with complimentary insurance covers, namely - i) Personal Accidental Insurance, (ii) Purchase Protection Cover and (iii) Lost Card Liability cover. The insurance benefits are available on SBI Gold, SBI Platinum, SBI Pride, SBI Premium and SBI  VISA Signature debit cards. Below are the details of the insurance covers and their benefits:

1. Personal Accidental Insurance (Death) Non-Air: This insurance covers the Debit Cardholder for non-air accidental death only, to the extent as applicable on the type of Debit Card variant held.

2. Personal Air Accidental Insurance (Death): This insurance covers the Debit Cardholder for air accidental death only, to the extent as applicable on the type of Debit Card variant held. To be eligible for the benefit of this insurance cover, you should buy the air ticket by using the eligible debit card only. 

3. Purchase Protection Insurance: This insurance policy provides coverage for loss of goods, purchased articles (excluding perishables, jewellery, precious stones) due to theft, burglary, housebreaking, including theft from vehicle, within 90 days of purchase of such goods. In this case, as well, the goods must have been purchased by using the eligible debit card only.

4. Lost Card Liability: This policy covers unauthorized usage of Lost/Stolen Debit Card. To get this benefit, you will have to report either 2 days prior to the unauthorized usage or 7-day post reporting (including the reporting day). However, transactions done using the PIN/OTP are not covered.

These insurance benefits get activated if you have used your card on any channel like ATM/PoS/eCom during the last 90 days from the date of the accident.
