There is good news for the State Bank of India (SBI) customers. The second wave of COVID-19 pandemic is raging in the country and going outdoors should be minimised. Nevertheless, banking is one of the necessities for which people have to step out. However, most of banks have restricted their activities on deposits and withdrawals of money in this situation. But what if one SBI account holder needs to transfer bank account to a nearby branch? Well, SBI has made it easier for its customers to do this now.

SBI has introduced a facility by which an account holder can transfer his or her account to the nearest SBI branch online. Recently, the SBI has also tweeted about this new initiative. The tweet reads, "If you need help in transferring your account from one branch to another, then SBI has got your back. Use YONO SBI, YONO Lite and Online SBI from the comfort of your homes and bank safe."

 

In order to transfer one's bank account from one SBI branch to another, one has to follow certain simple steps. They are as follows:

Step 1: On has to login to onlinesbi.com

Step 2: Then one has to go to the 'Personal Banking' option and enter the username and password

Step 3: Then one has to open the e-service tab and click on 'Transfer Savings Account'

Step 4: After this, the SBI customer has to select the account which he or she wishes to transfer

Step 5: The customer then needs to enter the IFSC code of the SBI branch where he or she wishes the account to be transferred

Step 6: The customer must check all the details and click on the 'Confirm' button

Step 7: The customer will have to enter the OTP which he or she will receive and after a few days the selected account will be transferred to the selected SBI branch

Apart from this online process, one will also be able to transfer an SBI account to another branch by using the YONO app or the YONO Lite app. One has to login to the YONO app and go the 'Service' option. After that, one needs to click on the 'Transfer Savings' option, following which one needs to enter the account number. After this is done, one has to enter the branch code of the SBI branch where one wishes to get the account transferred. If order to be sure if the account has been transferred to the selected branch, one has to login through the YONO app and check after a week.
