On behalf of BMC, Mayor Kishori Pednekar has announced a Diwali bonus. Mayor Pednekar has given good news to Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employees who have been waiting for Diwali bonus for the last few days. She announced a bonus of Rs 15500 for all employees. Rs 7750 bonus will be given to school teachers and staff. Rs 4700 will be given to teachers placed on contract in BMC Schools. Rs 2350 will be given to teachers and staff of Primary School. Health workers of BMC (women) will get Rs 4400 as Bhaubij gift.  
 
Although coronavirus has affected the income of the corporation, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had clarified that bonus should be given to the employees who work in this crisis.

After that, the move to give momentum to provide bonus to the employees of the Municipal Corporation strengthened. a meeting was convened by Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, Mayor Kishori Pednekar and representatives of the unions.

Mayor Pednekar said that even though the financial condition of the corporation is not very good, they have tried to get more bonuses for the employees of the corporation who are working during the Corona crisis. 

This will mean an additional expenditure of around Rs 155 crore for the BMC, which is the richest municipal corporation in the country.
