Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has seen an unprecedented growth of 27 per cent in the current fiscal, with a total of 56.80 crore farmers enrolled under the scheme since its implementation. During the eight years since the implementation of the scheme, nearly Rs 31,139 crore were paid by farmers as the share of their premium, against which claims of over Rs 1,55,977 crore were paid to them.

Launched in 2016, the PM Fasal Bima Yojana is the third largest insurance scheme globally in terms of premium and shields farmers from crop loss or damage arising out of unforeseen events.

The scheme comes under the Department of Agriculture and Family Welfare, which regularly monitors the implementation of PMFBY, including the timely settlement of claims through weekly video conferences of stakeholders and meetings with insurance companies and states.

Also adopting various innovative technologies to increase the timeliness of the flow of requisite information and data amongst stakeholders. The demand-driven scheme is voluntary for the states as well as farmers.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: How Farmers Can 'Sign In'

  • Visit the PMFMY portal or click on the link: https://pmfby.gov.in/
  • Click on 'Sign In', and a new window will pop up.
  • Farmers need to click on the 'Click Here' button on the left-hand side of the pop-up window to log in.
  • Add your phone number and captcha to get an OTP. Sometimes you are required to provide the Aadhaar number to verify.
  • 'Sign In' by entering the required OTP.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: User registration for first-timers

  • Visit the PMFBY portal or click on the link here: pmfby.gov.in
  • Click on 'Register' to register yourself on the portal
  • Enter the 'Official Information' and then fill in the 'Personal Information'.
  • User has to verify their Aadhar number (auto-verification) and their mobile number (OTP-verification).
  • Registration would be approved by authorities, and users would be notified through an SMS or email upon approval or rejection.
  • After being approved, click on ‘Sign In’ provided at the top right portion of the portal
  • Enter the registered mobile number and password set at the time of self-registration.
