After remaining unchanged for two days, the prices of petrol and diesel rose by Rs 0.35 on Wednesday. The petrol and diesel prices increased for four consecutive days till Sunday.

Accordingly, the price of petrol became Rs 106.19 per litre and Rs 112.11 per litre, in Delhi and Mumbai, respectively, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.

The diesel prices in Delhi and Mumbai are now Rs 94.92 per litre and Rs 102.89 per litre respectively. 

Diesel prices have increased on 20 out of the last 26 days taking up its retail price by Rs 6.35 per litre in Delhi.  

Petrol prices had maintained stability since September 5 but oil companies finally raised its pump prices last week and this week given a spurt in the product prices lately. Petrol prices have also risen on 17 of the previous 22 days taking up its pump price by Rs 5 per litre. 

According to the official website of fuel retailer Indian Oil, prices of petrol and diesel are as follows: 

1) Delhi - Petrol - Rs 106.19, Diesel - Rs 94.92 

2) Kolkata - Petrol - Rs 106.77, Diesel - Rs 98.03 

3) Mumbai - Petrol - Rs 112.11, Diesel - Rs 102.89 

4) Chennai - Petrol - Rs 103.31, Diesel - Rs 99.26
