This initiative was taken by the government to avoid the unnecessary crowd amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Jeevan Pramaan Patra is a biometric-enabled digital service for pensioners. Pensioners of Central government, state government, or any other government organisation can take benefit of this facility.

Jeevan Pramaan Patra can be submitted throughout the year by pensioners. Generally, Jeevan Pramaan Patra becomes due after one year from the date of submission of the life certificate and approval of the new PPO.

How does it work?
Jeevan Pramaan uses the Aadhaar platform for biometric authentication of the pensioner. A successful authentication generates the Digital Life Certificate, which gets stored in the Life Certificate Repository. The Pension Disbursing Agencies can access the certificate online.
