Yet, you might come across a friend or colleague who misplaced their PAN card or actually ended up losing it. Now, this could be a problem. However, National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) offers the option of getting a duplicate PAN copy in case of theft or loss of PAN card. 

Online application to obtain a duplicate copy of PAN can be made through its website. Note that NSDL e-Gov has been entrusted by the Income Tax (I-T) department for acceptance and processing of PAN applications. However, this doesn’t come free of cost.

What is the fee for duplicate PAN card? 

The charges for applying for PAN is Rs 93 (excluding GST​) for Indian communication address and Rs 864 (excluding GST​) for foreign communication address.  

Payment of application fee can be made through credit/debit card, demand draft or net-banking. Once the application and payment is accepted, the applicant is required to send the supporting documents through courier/post to NSDL/UTITSL. Only after the receipt of the documents, PAN application would be processed by NSDL/UTITSL. 

You should also know that the application for fresh allotment of PAN can be made through the internet. Further, requests for changes or correction in PAN data or request for reprint of PAN card (for an existing PAN) may also be made online. Online application can be made either through the portal of NSDL  or portal of UTITSL.
