Gold Price Today: On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), Gold October futures were up by 0.28 percent at Rs 51,689 per 10 grams whereas Silver September futures were seen trading at Rs 56,741 per kg after declining 0.31 percent.

Tracking the strength of the American currency in the overseas market and a muted trend in domestic equities, the rupee depreciated 23 paise to 79.68 against the US dollar in opening trade on Thursday. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 79.60 against the US dollar, then declined by 23 paise to 79.68 against the previous close, as per the PTI report.

On the domestic equity market front, the 30-share Sensex was trading 229.29 points or 0.38 percent lower at 60,030.84, while the broader NSE Nifty was down 61.15 points or 0.34 percent to 17,883.10.

Amid a decline in international precious metal prices and rupee appreciation, the yellow metal price on Wednesday slipped Rs 53 to Rs 52,340 per 10 grams in the national capital, according to HDFC Securities. In the international market, gold was quoting lower at USD 1,772 per ounce while silver was flat at USD 19.96 per ounce.
