ESIC Beneficiary Alert: Employees' State Insurance beneficiaries can now avail benefits of non-Covid  medical services through Tie-up Hospitals, Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has said in a tweet. The scheme is a self-financing social security and health insurance scheme for workers which is managed by the ESIC according to rules and regulations stipulated in the ESI Act 1948.

The step has been taken in the wake of "potential hardship faced by #ESI Beneficiaries as some of the #ESIC Hospitals have been converted  to function as dedicated  #COVID19 Hospitals," the tweet says.

ESIC beneficiary who wishes to take the non Covid-19 medical services will be referred by ESIC/ESIS dispensary to tie-up hospitals for seeking the services during the period for which the concerned ESIC hospital functions as a dedicated Covid-19 Hospital. The beneficiary will be allowed to take emergency,non-emergency treatment from the tie-up hospital without any referral letter in accordance with his entitlements.

The tie-up hospitals have been instructed to maintain a separate record of such ESIC beneficiaries. the tie-up hospitals will raise bills of all such patients after the treatment and send it to concerned ESIC hospitals for payments.

Scale of Medical Benefit: Is prescribed by State Government in consultation with the Corporation under Section 58(1 & 3) of Act under State Medical Benefit Rules. Insured Persons (IPs) are entitled to avail treatment in ESI Dispensary/Hospital/Diagnostic Centre and recognised institutions, to which he is attached such as:-

-- Outpatient treatment
-- Domiciliary treatment by visits at their residences
-- Specialists Consultation.
-- In-patient treatment(Hospitalisation)
-- Free supply of drugs dressings and artificial limbs, aids and appliances
-- Imaging and laboratory services
