EPF member passbook and claim status: An Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is a scheme that has been put in place for all salaried people working in a corporate organisation with 20 or more employees. All companies are required by the Employee Provident Fund Organisation of India (EPFO) to contribute a portion of their employees' salary to the provident fund.

EPF member passbook: How to check online

The EPF passbook contains all the details of employees' transactions that have been made by both the employer and employee in the EPF and Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) accounts.

Steps to download EPF passbook: 

1. One should go to https://www.epfindia.gov.in/site_en/index.php.

2. Then select 'e-Passbook' from the menu. The employee must input their UAN, password, and captcha information on the new tab.

3. The employee must then select 'Login'.

4. The employee's Member ID will be shown on the next page. If the employee has multiple Member IDs, they will all be displayed on the screen.

5. The employee must click on the Member ID of the account from which they want to get their PF statement.

6. As soon as the employee clicks on the Member ID, all PF account information, including the name of the company, the employee's name, the location of the office, the employer and employee's respective shares, and the contribution, will be shown.

7. The employee will also be able to download the PF statement in PDF format as well as take a printout of the statement.

EPF member passbook: Things to remember before checking passbook online

  • Only members who complete the UAN registration on the EPFO site are eligible for the PF passbook feature.
  • The passbook feature will be accessible only after six hours once the registration or activation has been finished.
  • Six hours after registration is finished, the passbook function will be accessible.
  • The entries made in the passbook must match those made in the EPFO field offices.
  • Inoperative Members, settled members and exempted establishment members will not be able to use the EPF Passbook feature.

EPF Claim status 

Employees may simply monitor the progress of their EPF claims online or offline, depending on their preferences. If you select the online option, you need to log in to the UAN Member Portal or by visiting the official website of EPFO. Make sure you have the following information handy when checking the status of your EPF claim:

  • Details of your company
  • Extension code
  • Employer’s EPF Regional Office
  • Universal Account Number

Here are different ways to check EPF claim status. The employees can check their EPF claim status by following one of the following methods:

On UAN Member Portal 

Members can check EPF claim status through UAN Member Portal by following the steps given below –

Step 1– First, you need to log in to the UAN Member Portal by using your UAN and Password.

Step 2– Click on the ‘Online Services’ tab and a drop-down will appear.

Step 3- Then, click on the third option ‘Track Claim Status’.

Step 4- The status of your online withdrawal/transfer claim will be displayed on the screen.

EPF claim status: Through UMANG app

Step 1: Open the Umang app and search for EPF.

Step 2: Choose “Employee Centric Services” from the available options.

Step 3: Select the “Track Claim” option.

Step 4: Now enter your UAN and click on ‘Get OTP’.

Step 5: Put the OTP and click on the “Login” button.

Step 6: All claims made for the UAN will be displayed on the screen which you have made to date.

EPF claim status: By giving a missed call or through SMS

Employees can also check the status of their EPF claim by giving a missed call on 011-22901406 from their registered mobile number or they can also send an SMS to get their claim status.

SMS format - type 'EPFOHO UAN LAN' and send to 7738299899. UAN is your UAN number and LAN is the language in which you want to receive your reply.
