EPF Balance Check: Ahead of the Diwali 2019 festival, 6 crore employees are going to get a big Diwali bonanza from the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Union Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar has revealed that the EPFO will credit the PF interest in its 6 crore member accounts ahead of Diwali 2019. This interest would be for the financial year 2018-19. Gangwar said that the circular in this regard has already been released. Those EPFO members who want to know the amount credited in their account can do their EPF balance check through SMS right now and once the PF interest for the financial year 2018-19 is credited, can once again do the EPF balance check through SMS to find out what they gained. The difference between the two numbers would be the amount credited in their account. The EPF account holders would get a massive 8.65 per cent interest in the year 2018-19.

Speaking on the PF interest rate Manikaran Singh, a SEBI registered tax and investment expert said, "The government of India decides the PF interest rate on a quarterly basis and for the financial year 2018-19, the EPF interest rate is 8.65 per cent. An EPFO subscriber can check one's PF balance via SMS by sending a message in a proper format as described on the official website of the EPFO."

As mentioned on the official website of the EPFO, your UAN (Universal Account Number) is registered with EPFO, the EPF balance check through SMS is possible. What you need to do is to send an SMS from your mobile number in the format EPFOHO UAN ENG. The last three digits of the message depict the language in which you want your reply from the EPFO. Once you send the SMS, the EPFO will process your inquiry and send your PF balance in reply to your SMS. The SMS has to be sent on 7738299899 number, clarifies EPFO website epfindia.gov.in.

The EPFO website epfindia.gov.in clears that those who want the answer in Hindi can message EPFOHO UAN HIN, the EPFO will reply in Hindi. Similarly, you can get your answers in Punjabi, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Bangla. For EPF balance check through SMS, one's UAN and bank account has to be linked with PAN and Aadhaar card number.
