As much as the digital push has helped the Indian economy, it has also led to new challenges. This poses a new challenge for banks to counter cyber crimes and double-dealings. All the major public and private sector banks have responded well by introducing a number of ways for safe transaction of money. They constantly aware the customers about various possibilities by which they can be duped or defrauded.

Initially, most of these frauds were pulled off using internet banking, phone banking facilities or on the ATM. But, now the fraudsters are also using fake calls, unsolicited messages and calls from unidentified numbers to trap the customers and loot them of their hard-earned money. 

HDFC Bank is the latest in the long list to issue certain precautions and suggestions that help people stay safe. It has issued 8 guidelines to protect the customers from fraudsters. "HDFC Bank understands your world and strives to protect it from fraudsters. Keep these guidelines in mind to ensure complete cyber security," HDFC Bank said in a tweet.

Here are the guidelines issued by HDFC Bank - 

- Never allow strangers to guide you into installing 'AnyDesk' or any similar apps.

- Enable the app-lock feature on your payment and mobile banking apps

- Avoid forwarding any SMS advised by unknown callers.

- Disconnect suspicious fraudulent calls immediately.

- Customer service numbers found through any search engines (Google) may be unreliable.

- Do not share your banking passwords or store them in your mobile.

- Do not share sensitive information on call, EVER.

- Avoid any 'Collect Request' transaction on your UPI app from an unknown caller.
