"According to the data so far in Gautam Budh Nagar district, HSRP number plates have not been installed even in 50 percent of the vehicles. There are about 7.5 lakh vehicles registered in the district and around 2.5 lakh vehicles are running here after being registered in other districts. This means that about 10 lakh vehicles ply on the roads here. Vehicle owners in the Gautam Budh Nagar district are not showing seriousness about HSRP, so the district administration has announced a challan of Rs 5,500 for vehicles without HSRP after April 15," said a DNA report.

Meanwhile, the people who have booked their HSRPs online and have got waiting for two to three months need to keep their registration slip with them while driving to avoid getting challaned. These people will not be issued challan upon showing HSRP registration slip.

What is HSRP?

Well, HSRP is a hologram sticker in which an engine and chassis number of a vehicle are entered and pasted on the vehicle's number plate. The high security number plate is designed for the safety and convenience of the vehicle. It is specially fitted in the vehicle. Once the number plate is installed, it cannot be easily removed.
