One must note that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issues a list of holidays for the banks in different cities. On these days, the bank customers will not be able to withdraw and deposit money at their respective bank branches.

Here is a list of the days on which the banks will remain closed. They are as follows:

1) On January 18, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Chennai on the occasion of Thai Poosam.

2) On January 26, 2022, the banks will remain closed in all cities except Agartala, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Imphal, Jaipur, Kochi and Srinagar on the occasion of Republic Day.

Apart from these two days, the banks will also remain closed on January 22, 2022 due to second and fourth Saturdays. The banks will also remain closed on January 23 and 30 because of Sundays.

It must be noted that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), grants holidays to the banks under three categories. They are Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

The banks also remained closed on January 14, 2022 in Ahmedabad and Chennai on the occasion of Makar Sankranti/Pongal. On January 15, 2022, the banks will remain closed in Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok and Hyderabad on the occasions of Uttarayaana Punyakaala Makar Sankranti Festival/Maghe Sankranti/Sankranti/Pongal/Thiruvalluvar Day.
