Bank Holiday April 2021:  Banking and financial activities would be hit this week amid series of holidays. As per the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday list, many banks will remain closed from tomorrow (April 13) to April 16. These holidays have declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act of the RBI.

The banking holidays depend on festivals being observed in specific states and might differ from one state to the other. Check why and on which days the banks will be closed in your city.  

As per the Hindu calendar on April 13, many states would be observing new year such as Gudi Padwa, Telugu New Year's Day/Ugadi Festival/Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba)/First Navratra/Baisakhi. Therefore, many banks in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Srinagar will remain closed as per RBI bank calendar 2021.  

Similarly, Banks will remain closed on 14 April on account of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti/Tamil New Year's Day/Vishu/Biju Festival/Cheiraoba/Bohag Bihu. The cities in which banks will remain closed are Agartala, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram.  

On April 15, most of the banks will remain closed in the north and eastern part of the country such as Agartala, Guwahati, Kolkata, Ranchi and Shimla mid Himachal Day/Bengali New Year’s Day/Bohag Bihu/Sarhul.  

As per RBI, banks will remain closed on 16 April in Guwahati amid Bohag Bihu festival.  
Besides, banks will also remain closed on 21 April and 24 April on account of Ram Navmi and second Saturday respectively.  

These holidays are as per RBI bank holiday calendar 2021, which also mentions the date, occasion and state, where banks would remain closed.
