UIDAI has reported about the new feature by tweeting on its official Twitter handle. According to UIDAI, users can use this feature to use any Aadhaar profile by selecting Aadhaar lock/Aadhaar in the 'My Aadhaar' section. It can be used to lock/unlock Aadhaar ID or generating eKYC.

UIDAI launched its new app mAadhaar last week. This app is quite user friendly. With this app, Aadhaar users can keep all their information on mobile. Also, the app will have all the details related to the registered name, date of birth, gender, address and photo of the Aadhaar cardholder.

The app primarily has two main sections:

1. My Aadhaar: This is a customized space using which you can add on the Aadhaar profiles on your mobile app.

2. Aadhaar services dashboard: This section provides you with all the Aadhaar services that can be availed online.

With the app in your smartphone, you don't need to carry the Aadhaar copy in the physical copy as the soft copy would suffice or be as good as a hard copy to serve as Id or address proof wherever required. The app carries Aadhaar number and demographics of the Aadhaar cardholder such as name, address, date of birth, photograph, gender, etc.
