7th Pay Commission latest news: Indian Railways has announced a big gift to its retired employees, following the announcements made for the central government employees as well as ex-servicemen. The Railway board has decided to revise their pension, and the move is likely to enhance the pension amount of those railway employees who retired before 2006. Under this will be covered those pensioners, who were getting pension under the pay scale of Rs 6500-10500 according to the 5th Pay Commission. This revision is effective from January 1, 2016, while Central, Railways and state employees are getting the benefits under the 7th Pay Commission from 2016.

According to Harishankar Tiwari, Assistant Secretary General of All India Audit and Accounts Association, the government has implemented this decision in all departments. But this will mainly benefit those pensioners, whose last drawn salary was below Rs 17,000 when they retired.

Data in ARPAN software

According to the Railway Board order, all the pension payment orders (PPOs) will be uploaded in the ARPAN (software), which is made for pensioners, after making necessary changes. Thus, the pension amount of all the pensioners would be revised and then fed in this software. The copy stating this fact is in possession of 'Zee Business' online.

Revision of pension

This revision will also include family pension along with regular pension. Under this order, the grade pay of Rs 4600 has been considered as Corresponding Grade Pay. This amendment is related to those pensioners who retired under the 5th Pay Commission.

The Department of Personnel has also released the Concordance Table of the revised pension. The table states that the grade pay prescribed for pension / family pension in the Sixth Pay Commission was Rs 4200, and the same has been increased, besides giving the revised pension.
