7th pay commission fitment factor: Around 10 million central government employees' demands have not been met yet due to upcoming Assembly elections in five states and other reasons too, but it is hoped that the good news for them is likely to come sooner rather than later. Employees have demanded the central government increase fitment factor and grant Rs 26000 as Minimum Basic Salary. Now, the basic salary for low level employee is determined on the basis of mostly 2.57 fitment factor. However, 7th CPC fitment factor for high level officers which determines their salary was noted to be more than rest when put to test.

DA accountant and former Asst. Secretary General, All India Audit & Accounts Association (AIA), Hari Shankar Tiwari revealed to Zee Business that Central government gave a certain increment on the basis of different fitment factors for different levels at the time of implementing the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission in 2016. According to this, the highest fitment factor was at Level 17, which was a whopping 2.81. Officers at this level get a basic pay of Rs 2,25,000.

What were the major recommendations by 7th Pay Commission
Rs 18,000 was decided as Minimum wages according to the recommendations made by 7th Pay Commission whereas Rs 2,50,000 per month was agreed to be the basic salary of highest level officers. These salaries were prepared in accordance with discontiguous Fitment factors.
Now the demand is made by central government employees to increase basic salary from Rs 18000 to Rs 26000. They urge that if the government increases the Fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.68 then it will possibly also bring an increment in basic pay.

When is it going to be announced?
If the government doesn't implement the recommendations made by the 7th Pay Commission in this year, then what will be the next date for it to be announced? It is a question on the minds of many employees. So, they have zeroed in on 26 January, 2019 as the second-most likely date for this announcement to be made by the government.

The exact nature of the fitment factor too would be a concern. The numbers that are being bandied about range from just under 3 times, 3 times to 3.68 times. Of course, the higher the number under the 7th pay commission dispensation, the better for central government employees.
