Shashi Tharoor's Tweets on Assistant Professor Vs Sweeper salary disparity:-

"A college professor in Kerala sent me this evidence of the financial worth of her educational qualifications: while we all applaud that sweepers are paid well, studying long & hard for the higher degrees required by an Assistant Professor earns her a lower salary!"

"It is striking that this is mainly because Kerala's Left Govt does not give teachers UGC rates. It is reputedly the only state govt that has not honoured the Centre's recommendation to grant UGC rates of pay. @DrRPNishank."

Reacting to the Tharoor's tweet, one Twitter user wrote, "Sir, pay revision as per 7th Pay Commission has not been implemented for college teachers in Kerala. Now you can understand the point the lady who approached Dr Tharoor is making."

Another user asked Tharoor, "Can you take up with Kerala government to implement 7th pay commission."

Recently, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was embroiled in a discussion with Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut on Twitter. Shashi Tharoor welcomed the idea of Tamil cinema superstar Kamal Haasan's idea of recognising housework as a salaried profession. In fact, Shashi Tharoor supported the idea of paying a monthly wage to homemakers. Tharoor said this will recognise and monetise the services of women homemakers in society and will enhance their power, autonomy and create near-universal basic income. Kangana Ranaut however, had her own take on this.

Reacting to  Shashi Tharoor's comment on welcoming the idea of Kamal Haasan for a monthly wage to be given to homemakers, Kangana Ranaut said, "Don’t put a price tag on sex we have with our love, don’t pay us for mothering our own, we don’t need salary for being the Queens of our own little kingdom our home, stop seeing everything as business. Surrender to your woman she needs all of you not just your love/respect/salary."

In another tweet, Kangana said, "It will be worse to reduce a home owner to home employ, to give price tag to mothers sacrifices and life long unwavering commitment,It’s like you want to pay God for this creation, cause you suddenly pity him for his efforts. It’s partially painful and partially funny thought."
