In June, when the Union Cabinet had approved the implementation of 7th Pay Commission, that time, the Ministry had fixed minimum pay at Rs 18,000 considering the fitment formula at 2.57. Now, the government may agree to raise fitment factor to 3 times.

However, the central government employees unions were demanding 3.68 fitment formula, as reported by OneIndia.

As per the report, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has promised to hike the minimum pay of central government employees over Rs 18,000. The government is of view that this hike will help the low paid employees and eliminate poverty.

Moreover, as per another report by The Sen Times, Jaitley had said that the government will consider the hike of minimum pay after discussing with all stakeholders.
