7th Pay Commission: In what comes as a big Diwali gift, employees of Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will get the 7th Pay Commission benefits. In a statement, Union Home Ministry in a statement stated today that government employees of these newly-created Union Territories will get 7th CPC allowances. Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the proposal of all 7th CPC allowances payments to the employees of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, which will come into existence from October 31, 2019.

This move will benefit about 4.5 lakh government employees of these Union Territories. The employees who are working in the existing state of Jammu & Kashmir and will become the employees of UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh from October 31, 2019.

The annual financial implication of 7th CPC allowances like Children Education Allowance, Hostel Allowance, Transport Allowance, LTC, Fixed Medical Allowance, etc. to the 4.5 lakh employees will be about Rs 4,800 crore, the statement said. After the implementation of 7th CPC benefits, the minimum pay of these employees will increase from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000. Meanwhile, the salary at secretary level will increase from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh.

The decision will also change the increment policy. From now on, the increment will take place on January 1 and July 1.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on August 8, 2019, after Parliament passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill, 2019, wherein he announced that all the financial facilities being given to the employees of other Union Territories (UT), in accordance with the recommendations of 7th CPC, would soon be extended to the employees of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
