Speaking on the matter AK Srivastava, a retired engineer at the UP irrigation department said, "The UP government is going to discontinue the orderly allowance that it gives to the engineers of the department. This allowance is from Rs 100 to Rs 600 per month depending upon the designation, rank and level of the engineer under the 7th pay commission." Srivastava said that for Junior Engineer (JE) the orderly allowance is Rs 100, for Assistant Engineer (AE) it is Rs 200 while for senior-level engineers employed at the irrigation department of the UP government it is up Rs 500 and Rs 600 per month.

Speaking on the GPF passbook maintenance, Srivastava said that all clerk staff is given Rs 0.25 per passbook. He said that the UP Government may discontinue this allowance in the coming state cabinet meeting. He also said discontinuing the incentive given to the PWD engineers would also be discussed in the upcoming UP cabinet meeting. A JE employed at the UP PWD department gets Rs 100 to Rs 150 per month as an incentive. This incentive is given to the UP PWD engineers for designing new designs.

The state government of the Uttar Pradesh is of the opinion that after the 7th pay commission perks and benefits being given to such employees, such as incentives and allowances are very low and henceforth need to be discontinued. The Yogi Adityanath government is of the opinion that these incentives and allowances were started at the time when state government employees posted at the UP irrigation department and UP PWD was very low. Now, such a problem is non-existing and hence there is ground for discontinuing such allowances and incentives.
