Similarly, the new portal will provide call centre services for taxpayer assistance for immediate answers to taxpayer queries with FAQs, tutorials, videos, and chatbot/live agent. All key portal functions on a desktop will be now available on a mobile app, which will be enabled subsequently for full anytime access on a mobile network. Then, a new online tax payment system on the new portal will be enabled subsequently with multiple new payment options using netbanking, UPI, Credit Card and RTGS/NEFT from any account of the taxpayer in any bank, for easy payment of taxes.

The Income Tax e-filing portal is used by the taxpayers to file their individual or business category income tax returns (ITRs). It is also used to raise complaints seeking refunds and other works with the tax department. The ITD uses the portal to issue notices, get responses from taxpayers and respond to their queries, and communicate final orders like assessments, appeals, exemption, and penalties, among others.
