Do you have a Universal Account Number (UAN) but don’t know what it is? Then there is nothing to worry about as the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has informed about the simple steps which can be used to know the UAN.

"EPF Members can visit http://epfindia.gov.in and follow these steps to Know their UAN," EPFO tweeted.

Step 2: Click on 'Services' and then select 'For Employees'.

Step 3: Next, click on 'Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP)'.

Step 4: Select the 'Know your UAN Status' from the Important Links section.

Step 5: You will then have to enter Member ID or Aadhaar number or PAN.

Step 6: Fill your details like Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, etc.

Step 7: Enter the captcha and click on 'Get Authorization Pin'.

Step 8: After you successfully complete the above-mentioned steps, UAN would be sent through SMS. 

Also, if you do not have a UAN and you want to generate it, then you can do it by yourself. All you have to do is to follow the below mentioned simple steps:

Step 2: Click on 'Direct UAN Allotment by Employees'.

Step 3: Provide you Aadhaar linked mobile and enter the captcha and click on 'Generate OTP'.

Step 4: You will then have to enter the OTP you received on your Aadhaar linked mobile and click on the 'Submit' button.

Step 5: Select 'Yes' for 'Are you employed in any Private Company/Factory/Establishment'. If 'No' is selected, the system will redirect you to the home page.

Step 6: You will then have to select the appropriate 'Employment Category' from the drop-down list'

Step 7: If 'Employment category' is selected as 'In the establishment/company/factory' covered under EPFO, the system will prompt to enter the details of the establishments.

Step 8: The system will display the details of the establishment. Enter the date of joining and select the 'Identity Proof Type' and upload the copy of the 'Identity Proof Type' selected.

Step 9: You will then have to enter your Aadhaar or virtual id and captcha and click on 'Generate OTP'.

Step 10: Enter the OTP received on the Aadhaar linked mobile and submit.

Step 11: The system will fetch the details from UIDAI. Click on the 'Register' button and UAN will be generated. You will also receive the UAN on your mobile phone.
