EPFO Tips: When an employee joins the service sector for the first time, his/her employer has to generate a UAN for them. A UAN, which stands for Universal Account Number, is a 12-digit number allotted to all eligible employees by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). This unique number contains the details of multiple member IDs allotted to the member by different organizations. It should be noted that the UAN number remains unchanged during their service period, even if they change employers.

However, after this number is generated, it remains inactive until the employee activates it by visiting the official website. Once an individual's UAN is activated, it helps him/her to conveniently manage EPF contributions, check balance, and avail various EPFO services online, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for them.

If you are also a new employee and want to activate your UAN online, here is a detailed explanation with step by step guide for you.
