Indian equity benchmarks started Thursday's session mutedly amid mixed moves across global cues, a day after Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) kicked off the corporate earnings season.

The BSE Sensex was down 112.8 points or 0.19 per cent to 60,279.9 and NSE Nifty50 declined by 26 points or 0.15 per cent to 17,786.4 minutes after the market opened.

As many as 27 stocks were advancing and 23 were declining in the Nifty50 basket in the early deals. IndusInd Bank, Infosys, HCL Tech and Divi's Lab were among the top losers falling around 2-1 per cent each whereas Apollo Hospitals and ONGC were the among top gainers, rising around 3-2 per cent each.

Infosys and TCS were among the top draggers to the headline indices, dragging the indices down. 

The Nifty IT traded in red, down by 384.6 points or 1.3 per cent at 28,595.6. 

The Nifty Bank — whose 12 constituents include the country's largest lenders SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank — turned flat.

The 12-share banking index, Nifty Bank was at 41,739.4 level, up 181.5 points or 0.44 per cent in the early session.
