Share Market HIGHLIGHTS: Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty 50 and Sensex on Monday, October 9, settled lower, snapping a two-day winning streak as investor sentiment took a hit due to a conflict between Israel and Palestine. Share Market HIGHLIGHTS: Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty 50 and Sensex on Monday, October 9, settled lower, snapping a two-day winning streak as investor sentiment took a hit due to a conflict between Israel and Palestine. The price of crude oil spiked by 5 per cent due to geopolitical tensions. Besides, the US rate interest concerns worried investors.

S&P BSE Sensex ended 483.24 points, or 0.73 per cent lower at 65,512.39, while Nifty ended 141.15 points, or 0.72 per cent lower at 19,512.35 levels. Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 also ended over 1 per cent lower. On the sectoral front, the Nifty Bank settled down 1.07 per cent at 43,886.5.

    In a regulatory filing released after market hours on Friday, the Tata group maker of jewellery and watches said its its revenue grew 20 per cent on a year-on-year basis in the quarter ended September 30 with 19 per cent domestic growth in its jewellery division, which includes its CaratLane and Tanishq brands. The overall growth was driven by studded activations, new collection launches, robust Golden Harvest sales, healthy weddings and high-value studded purchases, the Tata group company said.   • Share Market Today LIVE | TCS board to consider buyback along with Q2 results this week; shares clock 52-week high

    Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) shares rise to scale a 52-week high on Monday, shrugging off broad-based weakness on Dalal Street, after the Tata group IT major said its board would consider a share buyback plan when its board meets this week to approve its quarterly financial results. The stock of TCS, the country's largest IT company, gained by as much as Rs 36.6, or one per cent, to Rs 3,656.8 apiece on BSE, surpassing an existing 52-week high touched on Friday. 

    The software exporter, which is due to kick off the corporate earnings season for India Inc on October 11, did not disclose the quantum of the buyback. Its last buyback, conducted in 2020, was worth Rs 16,000 crore. Read more

    Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX): The market regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has lifted the ban on new software of MCX after the recommendation of the Technical Advisory Committee.

    IDFC First Bank: The board has approved the issuance of 33.24 crore shares through QIP, with the floor price fixed at Rs 90.25 per share.

    TCS: Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS), India's largest technology services company, will be considering a proposal for a buyback of equity shares on October 11, it said in an exchange filing.

    Titan: Titan on Friday reported a 20 per cent growth in standalone revenue for the second quarter ended September 30, 2023. During the period, it added 81 stores across verticals, taking the group's retail presence to 2,859 outlets, according to a quarterly update by Titan. Its jewellery division reported revenue growth of 19 per cent. CLSA has maintained an 'Outperform' rating on the stock and has raised the target price to Rs 3,540. Macquarie has also maintained an 'outperform' rating and raised the target price to Rs 3,600.
