  • Fitch raises India FY25 GDP forecast to 7% from 6.5%

    Global ratings agency Fitch on Thursday raised its forecast for gross domestic product (GDP) growth in India to 7.0 per cent in the financial year 2024-25 from 6.5 per cent, citing improving domestic demand as well as increasing investments.

    The ratings agency also said it expects the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to reduce the repo rate—or the key interest rate at which it lends money to commercial banks—by 50 basis points (half a percentage point) between July and December.

    This month, another ratings agency Moody's pegged the economic growth at 6.4 per cent in 2025 while revising its forecast for the current year to 6.8 per cent from 6.1 per cent.

    CLSA has said that the company’s client, Aramco, is guiding for a capex hike as well as non-fossil capex. In September, L&T bagged a mega order from Saudi oil major Aramco for a gas development programme worth Rs 24,000 crore.

    "US stocks finished mixed on Wednesday as investors digested gains from the previous session that had propelled the S&P 500 to its 17th record high of the year. Equities struggled to gain traction after a rally that has defied every doomsday scenario on Wall Street. Investors braced for US producer price data on Thursday and further clues on inflation ahead of next week's Federal Reserve meeting. In the latest Summary of Economic Projections, released in December, the median estimate of FOMC members was for three cuts totaling 75 basis points by the end of 2024. The Fed’s updated interest-rate projections are set to be released next Wednesday," he adds.

    "Asian equities traded within tight ranges after a drop in technology stocks led to small declines in US shares," he further says.

    Here are some stocks that will be in focus on Thursday, March 14:

    Sanofi India: The company's board approved an exclusive distribution and promotion agreement with Emcure Pharmaceuticals for Sanofi's cardiovascular products in India, effective immediately.

    IIFL Finance: The company approved raising funds for an amount not exceeding Rs 1,500 crore on a right basis.

    South Indian Bank: The bank shall not onboard any fresh customers in co-branded credit cards until the Bank fully complies with the regulatory guidelines issued in this regard. It would however continue to service the existing customers who hold co-branded credit cards issued by the Bank.

    Cyient: The company signed a multiyear services agreement with Airbus for Cabin and Cargo Engineering.

    PC Jewellers: State Bank of India (SBI) accepted the ‘One Time Settlement’ (“OTS”) proposal submitted by the company.
