At close, the 30-share index of the BSE stood at 65,226.04, down 286 points, or 0.44 per cent while its NSE counterpart, NIfty50, ended at 19,436.10, down 93 points, or 0.47 per cent.

In the broader market, the Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 also ended lower. On the sectoral front, Nifty Bank was down 0.98 per cent at 43,964.05.

  • Share Market Today LIVE | V-Mart Retail Q2 business leaves Street unimpressed

    V-Mart Retail (VMART) shares give up initial intraday gains to hit a 52-week low on Wednesday, October 4, a day after the retail store chain operator pegged single-digit growth in revenue in the quarter ended September 30, 2023, and said that a shift in the Hindu calendar this year moved the festive season to the next quarter. The festive season in the country typically sees higher footfalls in shopping malls and retail stores as consumers line up their discretionary spends around this time. In a quarterly business update, released post-market hours on Tuesday, V-Mart said its total revenue grew eight per cent on a year-on-year basis to Rs 549 crore in the quarter ended September 30. That included revenue of Rs 22 crore from its digital marketplace, LimeRoad, as income charged from sellers on a net merchandising value (NMV) of Rs 54 crore. Read more

    Bajaj Finserv shares slip over 2 per cent to touch the day's low of Rs 1,525 apiece, the downtrend follows after the company's unlisted subsidiary, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited, received a show cause notice from the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Intelligence of Rs 1,010 crore.

    "Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited (“BAGIC”), an unlisted material subsidiary of the Company, has received a Show Cause Cum Demand Notice from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence, Pune Zonal Unit, under Section 73(1) of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (“the Act”), on 29 September 2023 alleging a tax demand of Rs. 1010,05,80,540/-," the regulatory filing read.     HDFC Bank shares leaps into the green on Wednesday riding on the back of a strong quarterly business update by the country's largest private-sector lender. The HDFC Bank stock gained by as much as Rs 18.8 per cent, or 1.2 per cent, to Rs 1,526.8 apiece on BSE, staging a sharp recovery after weakening about one per cent in the first few minutes of trade. 

    HDFC Bank said its total deposits grew 18.2 per cent on a year-on-year basis to Rs 21,73,000 crore in the quarter ended September 30. Its gross advances aggregated to Rs 23,54,500 crore, marking an increase of 57.7 per cent compared with the year-ago period. Read more

    Titagarh Rail Systems: Titagarh Rail Systems said on Tuesday that it had signed a contract for the design, manufacture, supply, testing, commissioning, and training of 72 standard gauge cars for the Surat Metro Rail Phase I Project. The order value for this project is approximately Rs 857 crore. The execution of the contract is slated to commence 76 weeks after signing the contract and is expected to be completed in 132 weeks thereafter, the company said in a statement. The Surat Metro Rail Project encompasses two corridors spanning a total of 40.45 kilometres with 38 stations and an estimated cost of Rs 12,020 crore.

    NBCC (India): The government construction company announced on Tuesday that it had signed a contract with its client, Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan), AYNISHD, Mumbai, to construct a permanent building of a newly approved composite regional centre at Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. The project size is Rs 25.19 crore. Read more
