Powercut solution for summer: Power cuts are common problems in many states in India, and Uttar Pradesh faces huge power cuts during the summer. To ascertain that power supply is not interrupted during the summer, the Uttar Pradesh government has given special instructions to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPCCL). As per chief minister Yogi Adityanath's instructions, the UPPCL has also fastened its belt to produce electricity on war footing. Regarding the same, the government has instructed to produce 660 megawatts of electricity in one of the two units of the Jawaharpur Super Thermal Power Plant. The UPPCL has been asked to make all necessary arrangements for it.

Chairman of the UPPCL's electricity production unit, M Devraj, inspected the Jawaharpur Super Thermal Power Project on Tuesday.

He oversaw the under-construction buildings at the site and took a detailed report of them.

He instructed the officers there to start electricity production at a unit (660 megawatts.

Addressing officers there, he said that electricity demand will rise in the summer.

The state's current electricity requirement is 23,000 megawatts.

He said it is necessary to start electricity production in time to meet the increased demand in the state.    

 

Next unit to start production in six months

 

Jawaharpur Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, which is 100 per cent owned by the UPPCL, is working on the project.

The estimated expenditure for the project is Rs 10,500 crore.

Once completed, the project will have the capacity to generate 1,320 megawatts (2X660) electricity.

One unit will be synchronised by April 23, 2023, for inspection.

This unit will start producing electricity by May 15, 2023. A second unit of 660 megawatts will start producing electricity within six months.    

 

Rs 70 crore to be released for project

Devraj instructed the contractor of the construction at the premises, South Korea's Dusan Power System, and asked them to speed up work.

He asked the company to inform him if it faces any problem.

He also instructed the officers of the production unit to monitor the development work on the project every day.

He ordered the release of Rs 70 crore for the project to pace up the work.

To ascertain coal supply through Indian Railways, the UPPCL has contacted all the concerned parties.
