What is Hydrogen Energy?

Hydrogen is obtained after separating hydrogen and oxygen from water.

Hydrogen can also be manufactured by coal gassification and from methanol.

Electolyser is used to extract hydrogen.

Green hydrogen is formed as a result of electrolysis for renewable energy.

Types of hydrogen:

Green hydrogen formed from renewable energy sources

Blue hydrogen formed from natura gas

Grey hydrogen – obtained from natural gas; CO2 emission, higher than bly hydrogen

Poistives

Better than gasoline and fossil fuels by at least three times

No carbon emission from hydrogen

More energy efficient than petrol and diesel.

It can be used as an automobile and rocket fuel

Negatives

It is an expensive fuel with the current price around USD 5-6/kg

Transportation and storage cost is higher than other fuels.
