Gold price today: Gold on Wednesday, January 4, traded above Rs 55,500-mark on MCX. At 1 PM, February Gold futures quoted at Rs 55,890 per 10 grams, up by Rs 360 or 0.65 per cent.

On the international market, Gold quoted USD 1,855.90 per ounce while Silver was up by 0.85 per cent at USD 24.435 per ounce.

Meanwhile, the rupee was trading at 82.84 against the US dollar. The international oil benchmark Brent crude futures was up by 0.52 per cent to USD 81.61 per barrel.
