In an exclusive interaction with Zee Business reporter Anurag Shah, Ashish Chauhan, CEO, BSE, spoke about the LIC IPO and the upcoming Union Budget 2022.

Ashish Chauhan believes that LIC IPO will see the highest ever applications. He said that up to 10 times more than the highest application will be for LIC's IPO and so the exchanges are now preparing to load by testing with brokers and banks.

In the interaction, Chauhan also informed that in the name of LIC's IPO alone, accounts of up to 9.5 crore investors have reached BSE. He also feels that over the next few days, more people will join the stock market because of the LIC IPO.

In this context, it must be known that earlier this week, LIC earlier this week reported a profit after tax of Rs 1,437 crore for the first half (April-September) of the current financial year, compared to Rs 6.14 crore in the year-ago period. Also, its new business premium growth rate stood at 554.1 per cent in H1 FY22, as against 394.76 per cent earlier.

While speaking of Budget 2022, Chauhan said that the government will boost infrastructure investment, which will benefit all sectors including cement and steel.

He also added that Sebi's regulations and fintech make it easier to register new investors. Furthermore, he is expecting announcements related to capital market in budget and that the growth of India will be over 9.5 per cent, the highest in the world.

However, he also pointed out that the inflationary concerns in the US, monetary tightening will have an impact on the market.
