The Indian markets closed the Thursday's session in negative amid selling pressure as domestic equity benchmarks Nifty50 and S&P BSE Sensex both closed around half a percent down. The Nifty50 fell 88.50 points or 0.48% to settle at 18,178, while the Sensex ended at 60,923.50, down 336.46 points or 0.55%. Kotak Bank remained top gainer on both the indices, while HDFC Bank also featured in among the top 5 shares that held the indices amid global volatility.
The Asian Markets started the Thursday's session mixed as Japanese Nikkei 225, Hong Kong's Hang Sang indices gained, while Shanghai index was trading in the red in the morning trade around 8.30 am.
In the global markets, the major Dow Jones closed marginally down by 0.02%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite closed by adding 14 points and 94 points respectively.
