Stocks in News Today, January 13: Stock markets are likely to start in green on Friday as SGX Nifty - an early indicator of sentiment on the NSE Nifty50 - was up by 62 points to trade at 17,980. Benchmark stock indices had declined for a third straight day on Thursday as investors turned cautious ahead of the release of key inflation and industrial production data.

Meanwhile, Asian markets were mixed on Friday as Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gained around 8 points while Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped 342 points. South Korea’s Kospi was up by 23 points. Overnight on the Wall Street, stocks closed slightly higher on Thursday as data showing a fall in consumer prices in December bolstered expectations of less aggressive interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve. The S&P 500 gained 13.26 points to end at 3,982.87, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 69.12 points to 11,002.31. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 217.33 points to 34,189.31.

Shriram Finance: Private equity firm Apax Partners plans to sell its entire 4.63 per cent stake through a block deal today. APAX arm Dynasty Acquisition to sell up to 1.73 crore shares at a discount of up to 6 percent.

PVR Ltd: The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on Thursday approved the amalgamation of the country's top two multiplex chains - PVR Limited and INOX Leisure.

Rail Vikas Nigam: The company has received its third order in a period of a week. This time, Rail Vikas Nigam has received the Letter of Award for the provision of automatic block signaling in the Taduku-Renigunta section in the Southern Railway. The project cost is worth Rs 38.97 crore.

Jay Shree Tea & Industries Ltd: The Board of Jay Shree Tea & Industries has approved the sale of Tukvar Tea Estate and Puttabong Resort in Darjeeling. The Tea Estate is having a production of 1.80 lakh kg of premium Darjeeling Tea Per annum.
 
Paytm: China's Alibaba Group (9988.HK) sold a 3.1 per cent stake in Indian digital payments firm Paytm for a total of $125 million through a block deal on Thursday. Shares of the company fell as much as 8.8 per cent to 528 rupees in afternoon trading and was last down 5.8 per cent as of 3:00 pm IST.
