The Market Guru said that, as far as returns are concerned, one cannot think of a Financial Year like FY 2020-21 ever having happened previously. It saw Nifty, Sensex and Bank Nifty giving bumper returns, he said. "This is probably the best financial year in the history of Indian stock markets.  Nifty and Sensex gave investors a return of around 70 percent, while Bank Nifty witnessed 72 to 73 per cent return. Mid cap index has grown by 100 per cent and small cap index by 125 per cent. This had been a very strong Financial Year from returns point of view and similar returns cannot be expected to be immediately going forward," said the Market Guru.

Any positive return from here should be considered good enough, he said. "What kind of positive return you are looking for depends on how long you evaluate your return. Nifty and Bank Nifty on an average had given around 15 percent and 18 per cent returns respectively in the last 5 years. On the other hand, in 10 years, Sensex and Nifty had given around 12 per cent return, while Bank Nifty around 15 percent. Investors should lower their expectations from a 5-year and 10-year point of view now as the base has increased," said Zee Business Managing Editor.

Anil Singhvi said that currently we are in a bull market and we should look for options beyond indices. "As far as investors are concerned, they should stay with their investment and further invest when there is 800 to 1,000 points fall in Nifty index. Investors should mark this very important support range on Nifty for this financial year, which is 13,250 to 13,850. This will act as strong bottom for investors. We should not be worried with 8 to 10 per cent movement on lower or upper side, " he said.

For traders, it's simple - they will have to closely monitor daily and weekly data and proceed accordingly, said the Market Guru. "From April 1 to May 31, traders will have the best opportunity. It will be dominated by small cap and mid cap stocks and there will be good action seen in these stocks in range-bound market," he concluded.
