The Indian markets, NSE and BSE, will see no trading on Thursday, August 19, 2021. As per BSE trading holidays list 2021, there will be no action on the NSE and BSE on Thursday on account of Muharram. There will be no trading in equity, equity derivative and SLB segments due to the festival today, showed BSE holidays list.

There are as many as 14 holidays in 2021. The next holiday when there will be no trading on BSE and NSE is September 10, 2021, when the market will remain closed due to Ganesh Chaturthi. 

Also on October 15th, the Equity Segment, equity derivative segment and SLB segments on NSE, BSE will remain inactive due to Dussehra. However, in November, the stock market will be closed on three occasions—Diwali (November 04,2021), Diwali Balipratipada (November 05,2021) and  Gurunanak Jayanti (November 19,2021).  

Meanwhile, those trading in commodities should know that Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain open in the 2nd half of the session (5 pm to 11:30pm/11:55 pm). The Multi Commodity Exchange of India will be closed for the first between 9 am and 5 pm.  

Similarly, the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) will remain closed during the morning session between 9 am and 5 pm and will resume operations from 5 pm till 9 pm, the closing time of this exchange. 

Earlier on Friday, the benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed in red with the former losing 162 points and later over 45 points to give a closing of 555,629.49 and 16,568.85, respectively.
